I love to create art that is sincere and simple and that captures a sense of wonder.   I want to connect to people and their emotions through my art.

I work in oil pastel, prisma color, and oils because I love the power of color.  I often mix the mediums or bring charcoal and pen & ink into my work  because I like the control and clarity a simple, long, thin stroke can bring to a piece.  When I work with color I am reminded of the carefreeness of childhood and I am relaxed.  The simplicity of line added to my work gives direction.  

It usually begins with children - something I have seen or heard them do that creates an emotion I want to capture and share.  Other times it might be the beauty of an exchange between friends, or the excitement of adventures abroad.  Whether the subject is mature in nature or more naive, they are unified by color and emotion.  I work through the thoughts, feelings, and emotions till they are vivid and full of color in my mind and then I release them onto the canvas or paper.  I usually work in a series, telling stories with my pictures, weaving the inspired emotions throughout.
